Some sessions are pure magic, like the kind where the golden light feels like it was meant just for them. That’s exactly how it felt photographing Blake, Brittney, and their radiant daughter Kelbi at the park as the sun dipped low on the horizon. From laughter and dancing to sweet, unscripted moments, this evening told a story of joy, connection, and the beautiful bonds of chosen love.

Kelbi, now three years old, is the life of every room (or field!) she enters. She twirled through the tall grass with the most contagious energy, played with a set of bird weights, and showered us all with hugs. She kissed her mama, wrapped Blake in her tiny arms, and kept us all smiling as we chased the light and captured her spirit.

Blake and Brittney’s story is one rooted in deep friendship. Best friends for over a decade, their journey took a turn toward something more in 2023, when Brittney’s daughter was just eight months old. After navigating the end of a previous relationship, Brittney saw Blake in a new light, not only as a loyal friend, but as someone who naturally and lovingly stepped into a father figure role for Kelbi. His bond with her was effortless, genuine, and deeply telling of the kind of partner and father he could be. That shift led to a beautiful new chapter.

The couple got engaged on July 20, 2023, and one year later, to the day, they said “I do.” Their love is steady, joyful, and centered around their greatest gift, Kelbi. As Brittney so perfectly put it, “It’s Kelbi’s world, and we just live in it.”

Their session was a reflection of all that they are as a family! They are full of light, laughter, and love. I’m so honored to have captured these golden moments and can’t wait to see all that’s ahead for this incredible trio.
