Some photo sessions are just different, the kind that slow you down, make you smile behind the camera, and remind you why you do what you do. Taber’s session was one of those.

He’s celebrating his 18th birthday today and just weeks away from graduating from New Home High School on May 16th. He’s the real deal: kind, steady, and rooted in what matters most. He loves Jesus, livestock, and his new puppy, Flare, and he’s not afraid to chase after the life he feels called to live.

For the past five years, Taber has poured himself into the show ring. He’s shown pigs consistently, and it’s more than just a hobby; it’s been a teacher. He’s learned the value of hard work and the reality of heartache. Livestock don’t always cooperate, and life in the barn doesn’t always go as planned. But through it all, he’s kept showing up, learning, and leading with his heart. That kind of grit doesn’t come easy.

He’s earned countless showmanship buckles, banners, and ribbons, but more than that, he’s earned respect. And during this session, we wanted to make sure we captured it all. The trailer. The gear. The golden West Texas light. Every bit of his story, right there in the background. One of my favorite details? His necklace. It’s not just jewelry, it’s his version of a senior ring. It means something to him, and it had to be in the photos.

After graduation, Taber’s heading toward a new dream; he plans to go through Fire Academy, prayerfully in Lubbock, and continue growing his passion for breeding livestock as the founder and owner of C² Livestock. His vision is big, but it’s his heart that’ll take him far.

I could go on and on, but the truth is this: getting to capture Taber in this season of life was an honor. These photos tell the story of a young man who’s learned early on what it means to work hard, love deeply, and follow God’s calling on his life. He’s already made his mark, and this is only the beginning.
