There are love stories that unfold in the most unexpected places, and for Lisa and Shawn, it all began on a January evening at a hot yoga class in Austin, Texas. Their journey from that first sweat-drenched encounter to a deep and lasting love is a testament to the serendipity of life. When it came time to capture their engagement, there was no better backdrop than the vibrant city they fell in love in, Austin, Texas.

Austin, a city alive with energy, music, and an undeniable charm, set the perfect stage for Lisa and Shawn’s engagement session. From the rustic allure of hidden alleyways to the sleek, modern lines of the downtown skyline, every corner of the city tells a story. As the couple strolled across a scenic bridge, hand in hand, the excitement of their future together was palpable. The lively energy of downtown Austin mirrored their own, bold, joyful, and full of adventure.

Lisa and Shawn’s love story began on January 4, 2024, at Karma Yoga in Austin. Both had signed up for a Singles Hot HIIT class through the SweatPals app, preferring a more intense workout over traditional hot yoga. As Lisa found her spot on her mat, completely unaware, Shawn was already taken by her presence. Determined to introduce himself, he found the perfect opportunity after class, sweaty and out of breath but unwavering in confidence.

His opening line? “Do you play pickleball?”

Fate, as it turned out, was on his side as Lisa was thrilled to meet a potential new friend and agreed to play at the Pan Am Pickleball courts that Sunday. Over the next few weeks, their friendship blossomed into something more, leading to their first official date on January 18, 2024. Now, as they plan their lives together, with their beloved cats, Arthur and Ada, by their side, they look back on that chance encounter with gratitude and excitement for the future.

Lisa is the daughter of my dearest friend, Shannon Herrin, and I’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into the incredible woman she is today. Seeing her find someone who cherishes her the way Shawn does is a joy beyond words. Vince and Shannon have always been dear to me, and celebrating this milestone with them is an honor.
