There are some sessions that stay with you long after the last photo is taken, and this was one of them.
Jamie reached out with an idea she’d held onto for six years: to photograph her daughters, Jenna and Jillian, wearing her wedding dress. She had dreamed of the moment when her girls would step into the gown she wore on the day she vowed to Jeremy forever, 17 years ago. This session wasn’t just about a dress; it was about legacy, answered prayers, and a love that has stood the test of time.
We styled the session with some of the most meaningful pieces from Jamie and Jeremy’s wedding day: her bouquet, a photo from their wedding, the vow books, and a string of pearls. It felt less like a photo session and more like stepping into a sacred memory, a bridge between the past and the present.
Despite the rainy weather (and Jamie joking about her lack of hair skills), we made magic happen. In under five minutes, both Jenna and Jillian had hairdos fit for the moment, messy buns, braids, soft curls, and smiles that lit up the room. Jenna even asked if I could do her hair once a week. Jillian, on the other hand, wants me to teach her how to French braid, which I look forward to soon! These girls were full of life, laughter, and sweetness.
Watching them slip into their mama’s dress brought something tender to the surface. You could see it in Jamie’s eyes, the way she looked at them, the way she remembered who she was when she wore that gown the first time, and who she’s become since. And you could feel it in the girls, too. There was a sense of awe. Of fun. Of knowing they were standing in something sacred.
Jamie said it best: “I wanted to capture these moments so they can look back and see that God exceeded their expectations on the husband He gave them when we prayed and dreamed this day about him.”
This is why I do what I do. These are the stories I get to help tell.
Thank you, Jamie, Jenna, and Jillian, for trusting me with this beautiful piece of your family story. It was truly an honor.
